Happy Independence Day

It was a rainy, wet 4th of July, but that couldn't dampen the patriotic spirit at the Shelby house! Gramps and Grandad opened their home to host their annual 4th of July celebration. Dad Gilmore grilled delicious shish-kabobs, Gramps and I took a dip in the pool wearing ridiculously large sunglasses (after the rain quit, of course, leaving us with typical B-CS balmy humidity), and of course, we all donned our red, white and blue in honor of old Glory! (And Norah was not to be left out, with her red and white striped socks and USA onesie!)

We didn't brave the fireworks at the George Bush library this year, for fear that the loud bangs and the late hour wouldn't be a good combination for Norah...but she did catch some of Macy's production on tv, and was completely mesmorized, so we'll probably take her to see them next year (the ones at the library, not the ones in NYC) Fireworks or not, we are blessed and so thankful to live in this great country, and for the wonderful freedom that was given us through the sacrifices of many and the grace of God.

God bless America--land that I love. Stand beside her, and guide her through the night with a light from above. From the mountains, to the prairies, to the oceans, white with foam. God bless America--my home sweet home!
