Well, if you've been watching the news, or live anywhere closeby, you know that we're in the midst of the "Great Ice Storm of 2007". I write this, a little bit tongue in cheek, as it always amazes me how we manage to get so nervous every time it freezes here. Maybe that's because it happens so seldom, and deep down, our inner child really wants to jump up and down, shouting, "No School! No School!" with wild abandon. Norah wasn't too sure what to make of the icesicles hanging from our house as she looked out the garage window.
At any rate, we haven't left home since Sunday afternoon. Where, praytelll, was our last family outting? Well, since you asked so politely, I'll devulge...but not without adequate back-story. Jason woke up with stomach cramps, but we went to church as usual. About 2 minutes into the sermon he left to "take care of some business" (ie--in the men's room) and never came back. Long story short, we made it home and by 3pm, he had lost count of how many times he'd been sick. Thankfully, Scott & White has a 7-day clinic that is open from 8-5pm, so around 4 we headed in. After being diagnosed with a "highly contageous" stomach virus, a shot of

anti-nasea medicine, and a perscription for more anti-nasea pills, we headed home.
Jason managed to fight through the bug by around mid-day Monday, but not in time for me to leave him to go grocery shopping (ok, he's a grown man, and I'm sure he didn't need me to stay with him, but I just didn't want to leave until I knew he was better). So I missed grocery day. Enter "Ice Storm '07". Brooke called (from Jason's work) to let us know that they would be closed Tuesday...and not open until 10am Wednesday. So, Jason did what any caring husband would do when facing a 2-day stint of cabin fever...he hot-footed it to Blockbuster before it iced over, and rented 2 more discs of "24". (I know, we're pathetic)

So here we are. It's Wednesday and Jason's back at work. Norah and I have still managed (by the grace of God and an answer to many prayers) to avoid the "highly contagious" stomach virus...but we're ready to get out of the house! I've busied myself with working on party stuff for Norah's big b-day bash this Saturday, but I've about reached the end of my "To Do" list. We are critically low on 2 vital Robinson County necessities: Milk and TP. Will we brave the ice? Probably not. But you can bet your life we'll bundle up and go out the moment we hear word its above freezing and the roads are all clear. (Nevermind the fact that we live less than 5 minutes from Walmart...you never can be too careful when crazy Texans, unconditioned to driving on ice are involved! And by the way, I group myself into this category, as well)

I understand the cabin fever part. With school being closed Monday and Tuesday I was going nuts. Thank goodness Eric had Tuesday off so it wasn't bad. But I had to get out of the house. So we bundled up and went out Tuesday. Eric grew up in the north where ice and snow are the norm so he drove. I would be one of the Texans that you are talking about. I was out this morning and it wasn't too bad. Good luck and be careful!
I know what you mean about the "inner child". Mine has been doing that for the past three days. And yet, again, we are delayed two hours tomorrow. Can't say I'm real upset.:) Sorry Jason was so sick, hope he's 110% soon!
