50's Jukebox Cake

I got to stray from the beaten path, so to speak, this week on my cake order. This week's request was for a "50's-ish cake". After giving it some thought, I decided to go with a jukebox. I had considered a doll cake with a poodle skirt, but the customer definitely wanted a square cake, so this was the end result.

As a finishing touch, I added little records around the sides of the cake. It was fun to work in some different than usual colors! I hope she likes it.

Very cute! I'm going to pass your name along to my best friend who lives in Bryan for her daughter's first birthday (which isn't until April but you know, it's never to early to start planning!)

Do you advertise your cakes and sewing or do you get most of your work through word-of-mouth? You always sound so busy! And you do such cute stuff too!

Tara--Thanks for passing my name on.

Morgan--No, I don't really advertise much, other than what I post here...but I do have a "standing contract" with a local princess and diva party business for the cakes. I am just getting started with the sewing, and would like to focus more on that, so I may try a little advertising, we'll see. Thanks for the encouragement.
