Extra Edition

I witnessed a classic "Norah-ism this morning. I laughed so hard, in fact, that I couldn't wait until next week's "From the Mouthes of Babes" post to share it.

N: Mommy, I'm so berry, berry hungry.
A: What would you like for breakfast?
N: Cross the lakes.
A: What?
N: Cross the lakes (with careful enunciation on each, individual syllable, this time).
A: Norah, I don't understand what you're saying, honey. Would you like a waffle or an oatmeal bar?
N: I'd like Cross the lakes-- like Daddy eats.

It suddenly dawned on me she was asking for Frosted Flakes. Jason's been eating them all week long and I guess she decided they looked good.

As a side note...the top she's wearing in these pictures is one I made for Patti last summer and Jenny handed it back down for Norah to enjoy. It was my first experience with shirring, and the tutorial on House on Hill Road was a great help! Sewing with elastic thread was a little intimidating, but once I braved up to it, it wasn't as frightening as I'd expected...and I was more than pleased with the results! (I'm just excited that it's endured through 2 toddlers wearing it!)

She looks like such a little lady in that last pic. So pretty.

Aidan does things like "cross the lakes" all the time. I swear I feel like an interpreter or translator for a drunk UN ambassador or something. ;)

That is so cute! At least she isn't saying doo-nuts, that's what Shelby was requesting at her age : )

Nora looks beautiful in her top!

I am so impressed on your sewing. I love to sew but I am very basic....

One of these days I'll have the time to learn more. Maybe I can sew for my grandchildren.

Ok so I think I spelled NORAH wrong on my last comment. Sorry :)

Don't sweat it, Sheridan...if I'm being completely honest, I sometimes spell it wrong, myself!

Thanks for the compliments on my sewing...I still consider myself basic too, but I like a challenge and am finding that a little determination (and some help from my mom) goes a long way!

I love "from the mouths of babes" posts...if you want to do more than one a week, this reader won't mind. :)
Very cute top!

That is my all-time favorite classic norah phrase! I loooove it when she says that. I actually was telling Trae about how she says that & asked him where he thought she learned it. He quickly responded with 'duh, your grandad...vary vary'. Maybe so, but it's my FAV! :)
