I got a wild hair to learn how to make sock monkeys, so (as I often do when faced with a curiosity) I googled it. I found all sorts of tutorials, and after taking a few notes, decided to give it a whirl.
Anyone who remembers Norah's first birthday party can attest to the fact that I love traditional sock monkeys..but since she already has one of the brown and white variety, I thought I'd try something new.

For a first attempt...I have to say I'm pleased. Both monkeys will be birthday gifts for some of Norah and Eli's friends, and I hope to make a few more. (Practice makes perfect, you know) The hardest part is explaining to Norah that she can't keep them all. Though, like the cakes I decorate, she seems to do much better with that concept if I just tell her who they are for (for some reason assigning a name helps her understand ownership).
