She's Not Sleepy

She's not your daughter, so this picture may hold no sway over you. However, for me, this image has the ability to reduce me to tears...if I were in the right mood.

Seriously, veteran parents, do you ever reach a point where you are immune to that warm and fuzzy feeling of melancholy pride, happiness, and awe that they're growing so fast that sweeps over you when you find your child sleeping peacefully, innocent, and perfect?

But that wasn't the whole picture. I had to zoom out a little more to reveal the punchline. On this particular night, she had been playing in her room, reading books to herself LONG after lights' out. (She has a large number of her books memorized and treats herself to "post-bedtime story bedtime stories", complete with voices for each character, on a regular basis) Seriously, Jason and I were wondering if she was EVER going to fall asleep. And then suddenly, the house was quiet. I stalked back to her room and found her peacefully sleeping, with this book close at hand. (The entire title, if you're not familiar with it is, "I' Am Not Sleepy and I Will Not Go to Bed"....how's that for irony?)

Priceless picture! That sounds a lot like Ethan. They just don't wanna miss anything.

Precious! What a sweet picture... I love sleeping pictures.... especially those with a background story. Love it.

So cute! Is that a Charlie & Lola book? Aidan loves those.

You guessed it, Tara, it is, in fact Charlie and Lola. This is our first C&L book to own, and Norah is crazy about it! (I have to admit it makes me chuckle too!)

Ha-ha! So cute. I'll have to tell Jon since he picked that book out all by himself...I had to intervene on a few of his "almost picks" and therefore eliminated many questionable books from showing up at the party. =0)
I guess Nordstrom liked this one.

Sweet, sweet picture.
I also treasure pics of my sons sleeping (and it's so sweet that they almost always have the same sleeping positions). They look so peaceful. And yes, I feel sentimental too everytime I watch them sleep...they grow up so fast.

Angela, I am right there w/ you on the 'tears' thing. Remember when I came over on Christmas eve and saw her sleeping? She is such a precious little girl, I love her so much! I miss that little baby! :(
