Happy Fourth!

Some of our good friends, The Perkins, are getting ready to welcome their fourth, so in going with our "Quatro Fiesta" themed baby celebration, I made a #4 onesie. Since the Perkins love the suspense of waiting for the actual birth to learn if they're having a girl or boy, I tried to make it fairly gender-neutral. Personally, I'm most excited about finding out what "#4's" real name is! (I have my predictions, and I'm dying to know how incredibly wrong I am!)

Baby Bull in a China Cupboard

An added benefit of mobility is the ability to crash your big sister's parties.

When Jason caught me photographing Eli's tea party escapades, he all but took the camera out of my hands for allegedly attempting to emasculate our son. He quickly gave his nod of approval when realized that Eli had much less interest in sipping tea with his pinky lofted toward the ceiling, and much more interest in wrecking Norah's perfect table setting.

Who knows, these pictures just might inspire a low-budget "Baby Kong" film. Even if they don't, I hope they make you smile more than Norah did upon the discovery of her ravaged tea party set!

What's Yours is Mine and What's Mine is Mine, Too

Lately, Norah has been much more reluctant to share her toys with Eli. (I'm sure it doesn't have anything to do with the fact that his preferred method of play involves a lot of slobber, as evidenced in a previous post).

Yesterday, after lecturing her on the importance of sharing with her brother, not 5 seconds passed before Eli grabbed her beloved sock monkey, as if to test her resolve, and made a face that emulated diabolical laughter. I just happened to have the camera out, so I snapped a shot-- what do you think, was he rubbing it in, or what?

From the Mouthes of Babes...

Sunday morning we had just loaded both kids into the car, and I realized I had forgotten to turn off the kitchen light, so after I closed Eli's door, I ran inside (instead of getting into the car, like I normally would). Jason reported that when Norah watched me walk by, she shouted, with genuine conocern,"Mommy, you forgot to get in the car!"

She also has a new saying. Anytime she falls down or demonstrates another act of clumsiness that probably should result in bodily injury, we ask, "Norah, are you alright?" Her response- "Yes. I'm a tough, old bird."

Forward Progress

Eli's really been working hard at crawling, so I thought it would be fun to try bribing him with the same technique we used with Norah.

Turns out, Eli is as taken with the telephone as his sister was!

His technique, however, is completely unique (well, at least from hers). Norah was an army crawler. Eli, on the other hand, prefers to let his legs do all the work. He pushes his little bottom up in the air, and inchworms his way toward the object (or person) he most desires.

He does, at least, use his arms when he gets close enough to grab. After all, no sense wasting excess energy crawling when what he wants is within arms reach.

More Cousin Capers

Eli and Kylie got much better acquainted by the time she left our house. (thankfully, he learned a more gentle approach)

This series of pictures cracks me up. Kylie is posing so sweetly...
and then there are my kids, totally goofing off...

The funniest part to me is that Eli's facial expression seems to imitate Norah's in each of these three pictures. It's almost like they're related...
